About Me

My name is Kim McGreal and I’m a sledge hockey fan in the UK.

I don’t play the sport, but I’ve been involved with it at almost every level.  I started off doing social media for the British Sledge Hockey Association and the GB National Team, and then became chairman/team manager for the Sheffield Steelkings here in the UK.  While I stepped down from the chairman role, I managed to pick up another few jobs in the process, including helping with social media for the European Women’s Ice Sledge Hockey Team, and volunteering as a writer/social media co-ordinator for the International Paralympic Committee.

Oh, and randomly gatecrashing at sledge hockey tournaments to cover them on social media and live stream them.

I’ve been a fan of sledge hockey for a few years now and have been lucky enough to get to know a lot of players around the world.  There is a camaraderie between sledge hockey players that I’ve not seen in many other sports, and that’s a large part of why I wanted to start this blog.  I want the players and fans of teams in the UK to know what’s happening in sledge hockey in Canada or the USA.  I want players who don’t even have a full team, let alone a league, to know that there are other people out there cheering them on.  I want to help – even a little – bring sledge hockey players, staff, volunteers and fans together.

If you ever have any suggestions for the blog, or want to ask me a question, you can use the contact form, or leave a comment on any post, or message me on either my private Twitter or via SledgeNews, which is my sledge related Twitter account.  I’m not exaggerating when I say I’d love to get to know every sledge hockey player in the world!
